Autumn Trees

As I made the transition into the “autumn” of
my own life, I thought of many things. I knew that there would be many
others who would ‘connect’ with this image as well.
The base glass that I developed for this series is an emerald green. I use
small chips of colored glass called frit to create the image of the trees
and bushes, the hills and the sky. These are fused onto the surface before
the piece is blown. Later during the blowing, I ‘draw’ the trees on using
molten glass.
A painter will often put their painting across the room upside-down to see
if it is balanced. All of my patterning is done upside-down.
