BENCH  TOOLS                Back

When we first moved to the Island we found this beautiful piece of driftwood that made the perfect bench.  The tools we use are all made of stainless steel so they can take the heat.  The 'jacks' are waxed with beeswax to keep them from scratching the glass.  This must be kept clean and fresh to prevent marking.  The wet newspaper is used to selectively cool and shape the molten glass.  There is 5-15 seconds to affect the change, then you must return to the gloryhole for a reheat.  One pail holds some fruitwood 'blocks' and 'paddles'  to shape with.
